Faces In Nature
Abstract art gives the audience a unique freedom: to make the art what the audience reads into it. There is no better abstract artist than God, revealed through nature. It’s no phenomenon to see faces in rock formations or characters in the trees. To see ourself in nature is to see our creator’s reflection. We are made in God’s image, after all. When you look at these rocks, do you see faces, too?
What is a “God Sighting?”
Ministry is hard. We can gruel for a win and get caught-up in being human-doings instead of human-beings. Sometimes our bar for a miracle is higher than God’s – but most God-sightings are small. They are tiny threads of connection between people that are hard to articulate. God massages the margin. God sings in subtleties. God dances in detail. God wanders in whisper. Jesus compared faith to a mustard seed… most miracles have small and seemingly meaningless beginnings.
The Photo That Started It All
I must admit, every time I ask someone to make eye contact with the camera, I get nervous. Exposure takes double-meaning. To have your picture taken almost grants you immortality. A photograph... a moment in time... a person staring into the camera is a person worth remembering. There is sacred worth in a photograph. It says that person matters.
