We have a website! Here’s what’s coming…
If you’ve ever played MarioKart (SPOILER ALERT), you know about the “secret” timing to boost your start. If you hit the gas button just right (about halfway between the yellow and green light in the countdown), you’ll get a nice jolt of turbo to kickstart your race.
There’s probably perfect timing for launching a website, too. No doubt this isn’t it. A Friday afternoon in the middle of September at 2:16pm. But, just like a spiritual mentor once told me, “the best translation of the Bible is the one you’ll actually read,” I suppose the best time to launch a website is whatever time you choose to actually launch one.
So here we go ––> BRACKENCANDLE.COM
Plenty of kinks to work out.
Previously, our candle order form was through jotform. We would accept check, cash or cash app payments (Paypal & Venmo). This will be our first foray into online point of sale. I’m still fuzzy on the details. For now, our candles will only be available in the Fall (and Spring on occasion). We usually make a batch ahead of each season, and when we run out is when the store closes. Candlemaking season is almost upon us!
Lavender Bracken Candle – best seller from the Spring 2023 collection
I’m excited to sell a few photo prints, too. As with everything else, I’m still working out best fulfillment options. I’m testing fulfillment through a company called Printful, which handles printing, packaging and shipping…eventually, prints might be in-person pickup only. Regardless, I feel deep satisfaction when someone enjoys my art enough to pay for it. Thank you.
Birdwatching Through the Window
Spotted a blue jay on a mural through the window of an abstract sculpture close to the Oregon District in Dayton, OH.
As I was building the website, I debated whether or not to include additional freelance services (photo sessions, branding, video production, etc). My employer (Ginghamsburg Church) has been kind to let me borrow production tools at zero cost. Therefore, the tools I have access to are not always available. So, I’m saving for my own gear. If you would like to work on something together, I would enjoy that.
